With fight week coming to a close, welterweights Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman officially held their final press conference, formally announcing their fight this weekend at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao started off by fielding a question from the host, asking him what it means to him to be fighting on FOX PPV, in front of an audience he’s never had throughout his Hall of Fame career.
“It’s a big honor to fight on FOX, this my first time I think to fight on FOX. And to the fans, thank you so much for your support,” Pacquiao said.
Thurman was then asked what this experience has been like for him, considering he’s never fought on a stage this big before:
“It’s been tremendous thus far and the experience isn’t over,” Thurman replied. “I’m looking forward to the fight, I’m looking forward to the final moment when my hand is raised. And, you know, it’s just been a build-up, it’s been a progression my whole career. Being an undefeated champion I remember when I struggled as an interim champion, and then I first had the regular title, WBA, that Manny holds now and now I’m a super champion fighting a legend back here at the MGM Grand. Beautiful arena, Las Vegas, I mean, it’s just a beautiful time, a beautiful moment in boxing and I’m happy to be here.”
